Spatiotemporal Distribution of Drought and Humidity in China Based on the Pedj Drought Index (PDI)

Drought is one of the most devastating natural disasters, especially in China. In drought assessment, PDI has high robustness, easier to obtain than indices such as SPEI and PDSI, more advantageous regions with sparse stations. The present study employs annual precipitation temperature data from 830 meteorological stations systematically interannual variation characteristics humidity China during 1970–2019. results showed following: (1) 26.6% total statistics significant (p < 0.05) increases values throughout (2) Air plays a remarkable role assessing drying trend (3) About 71% experienced events (PDI > 1) −1), 14% events.
